Gripe, Woman! Gripe!

Griping makes the world go sour, or so i commented on Facebook, which is about the truest and most sour thing you can ever imagine. I cannot imagine anyone with a taste preference for this kind of thing but to my surprise i have come across so many who like to gripe, complain, spew infamy at the slightest, without ever stopping.

I became one of these people recently when

* I have been getting bad quality sleep for three nights in a row due to a dull pain in my neck
* I have been feeling nauseous during taxi rides due to the neck problem (yes same neck, no less)
* My old phone broke down, i.e. cannot press important buttons, like "Call" (hello? what good is a phone when it doesn't allow you to make a phone call when you need to?), prompting me to make a call to Singtel, haggle over a discount voucher on my handset purchase, scoot down to Hello!Shop at Comcentre Somerset, and bought (horrors of horrors) a NOKIA smartphone
* When the smartphone turns out to be stupid, time-wasting and money-wasting (upgrade to a data plan costs money yo!?)

The interface is counter-intuitive, the Calendar function does not make sense, none of the pages or whatever is aesthetically appealing.. and what's more, the streaming for youtube videos SUCKs big time on this device! Which strangely did not happen on the night I bought the phone but only the next day! n the day after! and the day after the day after!

Why did i get a smartphone and pay for a data plan? BECAUSE I WANT TO WATCH YOUTUBE WHENEVER N WHEREVER, ON THE GO, N WHATEVER!!!!! ok, I'm getting hysterical here. Breathe, woman! Breathe!

So what good is a smartphone plus a data plan when it doen't do streaming properly? I know, because in contrast my hubby's Samsung Wave (the first original Wave) played a video with no interuption in a matter of nanoseconds, when that same video took virtually forever to play on my phone! Ok i am going to refrain from calling it my phone and refer to IT as the nokia.

I had thought of giving it a try cos I thought in the world of androids and bada and i-phone, if nokia wants to revive itself it should have come up with a good quality competitor in the market, right? Wrong! Symbian 3 is totally not the platform any phone should be using in this era! Nokia used to be the most user friendly and successful phone manufacturer around but things have certianly deteriorated. I can't set an alarm to play my favourite piece of music/sound, the nokia needs to be charged every single day though I seldom use it in the day and time n battery are wasted on waiting for a single video to load.

Why does griping make the world sour? Because it just doesn't end! The next thing I was on to was my husband. Why didn't he thought of geting me a samsung wave for our anniversary when I have been hinting for the longest time that I liked it but Singtel is not carrying it anymore? And then i start blaming myself, why was I so stingy and tried to get what I thought was ok value for money when the SE Xperia X1o sells at just $30 more? THAT was the other phone that I had done quite a bit of research on, n not to say it just got an upgrade to Android 2.1 recently! Why did i suddenly change gear and slow down to even look at a Nokia?

too may Why's and Should-have's make one a very disagreeable person indeed. Disagreeing with everything she sees, especially when it is a she you're talking about. That's why I am griping here on my blog, instead of continuing to pollute the facebook channel with my many gripes. With this post I hope it all ends here. A channel to vent my frustration. Well, at least for this I am very grateful. Something to be happy about? .. a grudging 'yes, i guess...'
